An interactive map adds to your users' experience of your site.
Our mapping object, as seen on HereAbout, can be embedded in your
own site. This does not cost anything. However, all of our maps
contain some advertising. This takes the form of icons on the map
showing places which are listed by our advertisers. These places of
interest are categorised, and when embedding the map, you will be
able to choose which category is most appropriate as a
complementary service to the one you offer. For example, if you are
a bed and breakfast, an appropriate category might be restaurants
(you probably don't want to list competing accommodation
businesses!). In this case the map will show restaurants within the
location of your establishment which provide a service you do
not.
The mapping object provides the following functionality:
- Selection of categories of points of interest
- Directions from your establishment to those points of
interest
- Directions to and from your closest commercial airports
Perhaps these tools are not appropriate to your application.
Never mind - they can be disabled.
To embed the maps you only need to know the location of your
establishment. We are happy to help with this. Thereafter, you will
need to include a few lines of code in your webpage. You can get
the details in the document which will be mailed to you on
registration.
